Tapping AI & Cross-disciplinarity

Cover

Climate change is accelerating and its effects not only harm our planet but also human health. The changes affect various areas of our nature, which results in a lack of or unequal access to basic natural resources, changes in patterns of diseases and food security/nutrition.
This event is an opportunity to take action and engage in developing the next generation of data-driven solutions to climate and health challenges.
This March, Digi-Talks, Skylab Digital and Neural AI are hosting a one evening Hackathon – a “cross-disciplinary evening of hacking climate-related health issues”. We are inviting 50 students, faculty and professionals from any and all backgrounds, universities, and organizations, to come together to explore and combat health-related threats caused by climate change.
Cross-disciplinary co-creation is among the stables of problem-solving and innovation. Further, the issues the world is facing urges us to tackle problems on several levels of society, science, and technology, requiring thinking across the boundaries of engineering, social sciences, management, medicine, and humanities.
As universities and academic research communities are largely organized based on traditional academic disciplines, this event by Digi-Talks, Skylab Digital, and Neural AI will provide students, faculty and professionals from all backgrounds – from social sciences to engineering – with the opportunity to interact across disciplines, make new friends and walk the first steps on a potential entrepreneurial journey

Join us at our event on Marts 5 from 17:00-21:00 at DTU Skylab, Diplomvej 373A, 2800 Kgs Lyngby.

Program:
1. Introduction & Teams
2. Inspirational speech
3. Hacking
4. Conceptualization & opportunity mapping
5. Present, feedback and winner ceremony
6. Networking and beers

As always, the event is free of charge and we will provide dinner, snacks, and drinks for all attendants. Make sure to secure your spot by signing up at our website, Digi-talks.dk.

IMPORTANT – SIGN UP:
Please, when signing up, write in the comment section which of the following cases you would like to work on. State, in the comment field, if you would like to team up with a specific person.
In order to maximize your value of the hack, we will divide attendees into teams across three different challenge areas. We have chosen three general fields of challenges, which will be:

Challenge 1: Rethinking food systems and nutritional access
This challenge concerns the changing climate conditions impact our planet’s ability to cope with the ever-growing demand for natural resources. Diminishing crop yields leading to food scarcity may be tackled through AI or biotechnological initiatives [Source: Homo Deus].

Challenge 2: Tackling temperatures changes and extreme weather
Rising temperatures raise the levels of ozone and similar pollutants in the air that are known to exacerbate cardiovascular and respiratory diseases. Greener initiatives may nevertheless minimize such exacerbation and help enhance sustainable energy supply, positively impacting infrastructure.

Challenge 3: Proactive climate change consequence mitigation
Human adaptation will be required following worldwide environmental changes. As a result, major regions around the globe will become inhospitable, forcing society-wide migrations causing exponential growth in disease dissemination. However, such catastrophes may be preventable through data-driven forecasting and biotechnological initiatives [Source: Homo Deus].

We, Digi-Talks, Skylab Digital and Neural are looking forward to seeing you!
